You will want to apply to take this course if you are interested in exploring the meaning of words or in preparing for the EF Trinity Diploma in TESOL

COURSE OVERVIEW

You will learn about the linguistic aspect of language, experiment with different techniques in planning, presenting and practicing a range of vocabulary activities to engage, support and challenge your learners. You will complete weekly tasks which involve giving and receiving feedback from up to 16 peers on the course. By the end of the course you will have produced a video detailing a lexical activity that you use with your students and share this online.

 

This course is for teachers:

  • With at least 6 months ESL experience
  • Who hold a TEFL certificate
  • Who are willing to spend 2 hours (longer for non-native English speakers) of your professional development time a week on this course for 10 weeks

 

By the end of the course you will:

  • Be able to describe word classes, groups and formation
  • Be able to teach word parts and word chunks
  • Be able to use techniques and activities to help your learners understand, remember and use newly acquired lexis
  • Present activities you use to better help your students with lexis

 

During the course you will:

  • Join the Lexis group online
  • Research, teach and reflect on the practical tasks
  • Complete theoretical and practical tasks on a weekly/bi-weekly basis
  • Post the completed task in the group
  • Comment on at least 2 posts by your peers
  • Teach activities, incorporating ideas from this course and be given feedback by your peers and trainer
