1.     Fees & How to Pay

Each unit is charged as follows:

  • Unit 1 – Written paper = £35
  • Unit 2 – Portfolio (internal marking) = £60
  • Unit 2 – Portfolio (external moderation)= £72
  • Unit 3 – The phonology interview = £134
  • Unit 4 – Practical block (internal) = £160
  • Unit 4 – Practical block (external) = £251

As the course provider, we (TRT) will charge your product (i.e. EFEC, Kids & Teens) the appropriate amount. You’ll need to arrange with your manager or regional manager to re-pay these fees, as we are unable charge you as an individual.

2.     How to Re-Sit

Units 1, 2 & 3: should you not pass any of the units, please email your tutor to request a re-sit and follow their instructions. You will not be automatically re-entered for a re-sit.

Re-sit Application for Unit 4 (the ‘Practical Block’):

1. You (the candidate) send us a list of professional development activities you have undergone since your last practical block and detail how these have addressed the specific areas of teaching feedback you received.

2. One of the DipTESOL internal assessors will observe you teach a one-hour lesson to a group of adult learners to confirm that this is of “pass” standard.

3.     How to Defer

If you wish to defer for any reason (including ill health, end of EF contract, or being busier than usual at work), the following apply:

Unit 1 – inform your tutors that you wish to defer, follow their instructions, and arrange to pay the re-sit fee.

Unit 2 – inform your tutors that you wish to defer, follow their instructions, and arrange to pay the re-sit fee (remember, this applies if you don’t submit your assignments before the first Unit 1 examination, as stated on the Statement of Commitment).

Units 3 & 4 – inform your tutors that you wish to defer, follow their instructions, and arrange to pay the re-sit fee. IMPORTANT: if you wish to re-sit or units 3 and/or 4, we cannot guarantee when you will be able to take the assessments with us. While we will do our best to add you to the assessment period (‘practical block’) that you request, priority goes to the candidates on currently running courses, and adding people who are re-sitting / deferring depends on the staffing resources available to TRT.

4.     Re-sit / Deferral Consequences

If you have a Development Contract, be aware of when the deadline is. Re-sitting or deferring will delay your finish date, and may affect the terms of your Development Contract.

Also be aware that the final deadline from Trinity to complete the course is three years from the date of your first Unit 1 examination – you must complete all units by this date. If you are unable to, you will have to re-take Units 1,2,3 & 4.
